New Jersey Legislature Recognizes The India Observer Editor Adam Rizvi During AAPI Heritage Month

By The India Observer Staff, Editor-in-Chief, The India Observer (TIO): TRENTON, NJ — The New Jersey Legislature has recognized Adam Rizvi, Editor of The India Observer, through a Joint Legislative Resolution honoring his contributions to community journalism, civic engagement, and service to New Jersey’s diverse communities.

The recognition was presented during a session at the New Jersey State House in Trenton as part of the Legislature’s observance of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month.

The Joint Legislative Resolution was sponsored by Assemblywomen Shama Haider and Ellen Park, Senators Vin Gopal and Raj Mukherji, and Assemblymen Younus Abdelaaziz, Al Barlas, Ravi Bhalla, Balvir Singh, and Sterley Stanley.

The resolution commends Rizvi for his efforts in promoting a robust, diverse, and inclusive Garden State through journalism and community engagement. It further acknowledges his work as Editor of The India Observer, a digital publication that covers community affairs, public policy, civic participation, and issues affecting South Asian and immigrant communities.

Assemblyman Sterley Stanley, who nominated Rizvi for the recognition, played a key role in coordinating the presentation and personally read the legislative resolution during the Assembly proceedings.

According to Rizvi, Assemblyman Stanley and his staff remained in contact throughout the day to help guide him to the State House and ensure he arrived in time for the ceremony.

The event brought together legislators, community leaders, family members, and guests from across New Jersey.

Among those present was Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla, former Mayor of Hoboken, who stood alongside Rizvi during the recognition and recorded part of the presentation. Rizvi also had the opportunity to meet and receive congratulations from Assemblywoman Shama Haider and Assemblyman Robert Karabinchak.

The resolution states that Rizvi’s work has contributed to civic engagement and community awareness and recognizes his efforts to strengthen understanding among New Jersey’s diverse communities.

Speaking after the ceremony, Rizvi expressed gratitude to the New Jersey Legislature and to Assemblyman Stanley for the honor.

“I am grateful to the New Jersey Legislature and especially to Assemblyman Sterley Stanley for this recognition. This recognition reinforces the importance of continuing that mission.”

The Joint Legislative Resolution bears the signatures of Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari and Assembly Speaker Craig J. Coughlin and was transmitted to Rizvi as an official act of the New Jersey Legislature.

For Rizvi and The India Observer, the recognition serves as encouragement to continue reporting on issues that matter to New Jersey residents while fostering dialogue, understanding, and civic participation throughout the state.
