“Don’t be slave of anyone when Allah has created you free. ” Imam Ali

Introduction: Recent turn of events have shifted the world’s attention on a country in West Asia called Iran, that has been target of Israeli aggression multiple times and was forcibly pushed to defend itself since 12th June 2025, when 100 of its locations were attacked, killing top Iranian leaders, generals, commanders, and nuclear scientists — which the Israeli genocidal regime nicknamed Operation Rising Lion.

Israeli arrogance miscalculated, believing that this would topple the Iranian leadership and bring it to its fall. The heartless, genocidal regime of Israel is now paying the price of its evil plan, planning to push America and its allies into an ugly war that will have no end.

Land of the Aryans

Iran means the land of Aryans, a name used in the ancient book of Zoroastrianism, the Avesta.

Its history is vast and complex. In its thousand years of existence, many rulers and dynasties have found refuge and have left marks of their existence, leaving behind footprints on the land and its people.

There is no doubt that Persians were a nation that were among the most sophisticated civilisations of all times. In my research on Islamic arts and architecture, there is no article that does not mention one of the most culturally rich civilisations the world has ever seen.

Iran has found itself in the eye of the storm for supporting the Palestinian cause, which none of the Arab nations have dared to support or even speak about openly.

Palestinian oppression and genocide

Israel has been using atrocities over Palestinian lands for decades. Its brutality has been openly on display for the past two years, where around 30,000 Palestinian children, pregnant mothers, young and elderly, sick and healthy, have lost their lives in a brutal, genocidal Israeli offensive targeting the civilian population of Gaza. Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Red Cross, and other UN agencies have coined its actions as war crimes against humanity.

It has openly bombed hospitals, schools, university campuses — all of which are war crimes. The Muslim ummah has failed collectively to counter these deadly attacks on Gaza, with only Iran standing up and speaking on behalf of the oppressed people of Gaza (Palestine).

Standing up for the oppressed, in brotherhood or humanity, has been one of its core agendas since the Islamic Republic of Iran was established in the year 1979, and Iran has been following those principles henceforth.

Way of life (Vilayat-e-Faqih)

Iran is a Shia-majority country, which was founded on the principles of Vilayat-e-Faqih (Authority of Justice), which rejects dictatorship, kinship, and democracy, and links it straight to Imamate. It is a school of thought — a way of life — based on the principles given by the 12 Shia Imams, especially Imam Ali, who is the first Imam of the Shia faith.

Ironically, all the 12 Shia Imams have Arab ancestry, while the top Sunni leadership is Persian.

A country brought to life under the foundation of Vilayat-e-Faqih — it is highly impossible that Iran would remain silent and ignore the cries of the oppressed people of Palestine, while the rich Arab sheikhdoms of the Gulf ignored the cries for help from their brothers.

Iran is probably the only sovereign nation that spoke against the atrocities of the Israeli regime against the Palestinians.

Propaganda wars

Israel would not have been able to flex its muscles on Palestinians and play the victim card without the support of the West, especially its strongest ally, the USA. The world has been witness to the brutality of Israeli aggression on helpless and unarmed Palestinians since 7th October 2023.

Many free-thinking citizens of the world have, since then, registered their protests on streets around the world, forcing their leaders to change their stance on Palestine and boycott Israeli aggression and products.

America has been instrumental in making puppet states in the Middle East since 9/11 (2001). Wars fought on fake propaganda brought about the fall of regimes in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Afghanistan, Sudan, Yemen — and no wonder, Iran was long on its hit list.

Choosing to call it an Axis of Evil, coined by the Bush administration, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen have long been a thorn in America’s eyes, because they are self-dependent, sovereign nations — unlike the Gulf states, whose ugly display of wealth and hospitality to American President Trump last month showed them in poor light, where they chose to extend hands, showering him with expensive gifts and an ugly display of wealth — while ignoring the Palestinian cause.

Country under the Mullahs

Iran has faced its own set of problems and internal conflicts. This country under the Mullahs, as it has been called, has long been criticized by the West.

The recent turn of events in the past few days has changed public opinion — maybe even that of its neighbors, the Gulf states, who could not gauge the extent of its strength until it was on display.

A country that has endured international sanctions for decades, to break its economy — Iran’s collective willpower and the hard work of its people has ensured that Iran has come out of its shadow.

It has the best medical facilities in the whole Gulf region. Iranians have been successful scientists, engineers, and artists. Their women work and participate as leaders, doctors, engineers, teachers, PhD scholars, and in many other fields.

Recently, a clip went viral which showed a lady news anchor named Sahar Emami, who was live on national TV when her studio came under Israeli fire. She went back to live TV within 15 minutes of the attack, proving herself to be the true follower of Bibi Zainab, the brave sister of Imam Hussain, who was not afraid in face of grave danger.

If we look at it’s defense capabilities, it is probably the only country in the world that brought down the powerful F-5 fighter jets to the ground. It’s missiles were powerful enough to overwhelming the Israeli defense system, shattering the myth that Israeli cities were well protected and on highest state of alert.

Conclusion

This was a war waged on Iran; it did not start it. Israel has tried to provoke and attack Iran several times these past few years, testing it’s patience and resistance by attacking it’s embassy in Syria, killing top Hamas leader Ismail Hania in Tehran, assassinating Hezbollah chief Hasan Nasrullah, it’s strongest supporter, and recently killing top Iranian think tank, it’s generals, commanders, and scientists, forcing Iran to defend it’s sovereignty.

Every day is Ashura, every land Karbala. — Imam Zainul Abedin A.S.

Last night, an emotional message from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Sayyid Ali Khamenei, was released. His message was broadcasted in anticipation of a possible murder by the Israeli genocidal regime, which has openly threatened him.

In the short message shared, the Supreme Leader has urged the Iranian nation to exercise restrain in the wake of his death, not surrender to the motives of the enemy, and walk under the principles of Imam Hussain A.S.

Looking through the prism of history, today I find this country surrounded in midst of double-faced, aggressive, arrogant leaders, genocidal regime, and dictator’s. Just like the battle of Karbala, this country stands alone, fighting against hypocrisy, manipulation, and false propaganda.

Truth always triumphs, no matter if everyone in the world is against you. If you are oppressed, God is always on your side. With this belief and firm faith, the Iranian nation is moving forward, paying the price of standing against oppression.

Wars have no defeat and victory. The leaders start the wars, and the civilians pay the price. Iranian have been paying heavy prices, with statistics showing at least 224 killed in Iran and 1,000 wounded, while 24 killed in Israel and 600 wounded since the Israeli aggression 6 days ago.

One thing is certain: the Iranian’s didn’t compromise with their self-respect, living under the harsh condition of economic sanctions for decades. For Imam Ali says, “The price of your soul is precious, do not sell them for anything else.”

Imam Ali has emphasized importance of spiritual growth and moral conduct over material wealth and worldly pursuits.

What developments regarding this act of aggression on Iran takes place in future, one thing has been established, and that is: Iran, as a sovereign nation, is probably one of the last remaining puppet states that America and Israel wish to establish in the Middle East.

As for now, history has been witness to the capabilities of this great nation, who gave a serious blow to the Zionist regime — which none of the so-called Muslim nation’s have been able to accomplish — living truly to the principles laid out by Imam Ali.
