A physician with a distinguished record of military and humanitarian service, Hamawy has drawn attention throughout the campaign for his work as a combat trauma surgeon in Iraq, his medical service following the September 11 attacks, and his volunteer medical missions in conflict and disaster zones, including Gaza. Supporters have highlighted his career in medicine and public service as key reasons behind his appeal to voters. (New Jersey MonitorAttachment.png)

Hamawy’s campaign also gained national attention through endorsements from prominent progressive leaders, including Senator Tammy Duckworth, Senator Bernie Sanders, and several members of Congress.
