Governor Mikie Sherrill Increases Security Measures in New Jersey Following Middle East Attacks

By Adam Rizvi | Editor, The India Observer (TIO): TRENTON, NJ — In response to escalating violence in the Middle East involving Iran, Israel, and the United States, Mikie Sherrill issued a statement Saturday emphasizing public safety and precautionary security measures across New Jersey.
“The safety and security of New Jerseyans is my number one responsibility,” Governor Sherrill said. “As a former Naval officer and member of the House Armed Services Committee in Congress, I know how seriously we must take any decision to use military force.”
The Governor confirmed that her administration is closely monitoring developments overseas. At this time, officials report no known direct threat to New Jersey.
Governor Sherrill stated that she is working in coordination with Matthew J. Platkin (Attorney General), Jeanne Hengemuhle (Acting Superintendent of the New Jersey State Police), and New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness Director Laurie R. Doran Hauck, along with law enforcement leaders statewide.

As a precautionary step, law enforcement agencies will increase patrols around houses of worship and other sensitive locations throughout New Jersey.
“If you have any safety concerns, please contact local law enforcement,” the Governor urged.
New Jersey is home to diverse communities with deep ties to the Middle East, including Jewish, Muslim, Christian, and other faith-based populations. The Governor’s directive underscores the importance of vigilance while also reassuring residents that authorities remain proactive and coordinated.
State officials emphasized that increased patrols are precautionary in nature and part of routine homeland security protocols during periods of global instability.
The situation remains fluid, and New Jersey authorities continue to receive intelligence updates from federal partners.
