Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill Names Alex Ball as Chief of Staff and Tim Lydon as Chief Counsel

By Adam Rizvi, Editor-in-Chief | The India Observer (TIO): Trenton, NJ – November 6, 2025 — New Jersey Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill has announced the first key members of her incoming administration, marking an early step in shaping a team dedicated to transparency, efficiency, and public service.
Alex Ball, who managed Sherrill’s successful gubernatorial campaign, has been appointed Chief of Staff, while Tim Lydon, an experienced public servant and legal expert, will serve as Chief Counsel.
“As we hit the ground running for New Jersey, I am excited to announce that Alex Ball will be my Chief of Staff, and Tim Lydon will serve as Chief Counsel,” said Governor-elect Sherrill. “Each of them brings exceptional leadership, integrity, and a deep commitment to service. Their expertise will help us build an administration that delivers real results for New Jersey — a strong economy, affordable communities, and a government focused on saving New Jerseyans time and money.”

Meet the New Leadership
Alex Ball, a seasoned strategist and longtime aide to Sherrill, previously served as Chief of Staff to both Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (NJ-11) and Congressman Jason Crow (CO-06). He has also held senior roles at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) and EMILY’s List, bringing years of experience in legislative management and campaign organization.
“It’s an honor to serve Governor-elect Sherrill and the people of New Jersey,” Ball said. “This is a moment of great opportunity for our state, and I look forward to helping build a team that reflects New Jersey and delivers meaningful change. I’ve seen firsthand Mikie’s grit and determination — this administration will be no different. Our goal is to translate her vision and values into real results for all New Jerseyans.”

Tim Lydon, who most recently served as Policy Director and General Counsel on Sherrill’s campaign, has a distinguished record in both law and public administration. Lydon’s past roles include Executive Director of the New Jersey Senate Majority Office, Director of Cabinet Affairs under Governor Jon Corzine, and Chief of Staff to the late Congressman John Adler. In addition, he served for over eight years as a New Jersey Superior Court Judge, bringing a wealth of institutional knowledge to the new administration.
