Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill and Lt. Governor-elect Dale Caldwell to Participate in Statewide Inauguration Celebrations

By Adam Rizvi | Editor, The India Observer (TIO): TRENTON, NJ — Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill and Lieutenant Governor-elect Dr. Dale Caldwell will take part in a series of inauguration celebration events beginning January 16, engaging with communities across New Jersey ahead of Inauguration Day.
According to the Governor-elect’s transition office, the events will include an interfaith prayer service at Rutgers University, a Veterans and Military Family
Appreciation Day at the American Dream Mall, and a range of faith-based and service activities with cabinet nominees and transition staff in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The inauguration celebrations will culminate on Inauguration Day with a public festival at Military Park in Newark, followed by an Inaugural Ball in the evening.

As part of the broader inauguration festivities, Lieutenant Governor-elect Caldwell and several cabinet nominees will also promote a statewide day of free and discounted admission at participating museums. The initiative is intended to encourage residents to explore New Jersey’s rich history as the nation approaches America’s 250th anniversary.
The Sherrill-Caldwell transition team noted that highlighting New Jersey’s role in the country’s independence and strengthening educational opportunities for residents will be a priority of the incoming administration. A full list of participating museums is expected to be released separately.

“We started this transition by bringing community leaders, local officials, experts, and everyday New Jerseyans together to plan the best ways to deliver for residents, and I am proud of the work we have accomplished,” Governor-elect Sherrill said in a statement. “We will be hitting the ground running on Day One to drive down costs and support New Jersey families. I look forward to celebrating Inauguration Day with people across the state and continuing our long tradition of peaceful transfers of power.”
Lieutenant Governor-elect Dr. Dale Caldwell emphasized the significance of civic engagement and democratic participation during the inauguration period.

“It is fitting that we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while bringing our state together to celebrate our democracy,” Caldwell said. “I look forward to engaging with faith communities, veterans, military families, museum visitors, and residents across New Jersey as we prepare to take the oath of office and begin delivering for New Jerseyans.”
The inauguration events reflect the incoming administration’s focus on unity, service, education, and civic participation as New Jersey prepares for a new chapter in state leadership.
