The India Observer, TIO : The Al-Khoei Benevolent Foundation has issued a strong condemnation in response to defamatory remarks and assassination threats made against His Eminence Grand Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Al-Sistani, one of the most revered Shi’a Muslim spiritual leaders. These remarks aired on the Israeli television show The Patriots, broadcast by Channel 14 this week. While the programme is described as satirical, a segment suggesting Ayatollah Al-Sistani should be targeted for assassination has drawn outrage, with the Foundation denouncing it as a propagandist and dangerous threat.

His Eminence Al-Sistani is widely respected by people of all faiths for his advocacy of peace, moderation, and tolerance. The Al-Khoei Foundation emphasized the gravity of such threats, especially in light of Channel 14’s history of airing statements that have been criticized as promoting war crimes. This recent threat, amid an ongoing war in Gaza and Lebanon, has heightened concerns over the provocative nature of the broadcast.
The Foundation noted the alarming context of escalating violence in the region and cited recent statements by Israeli military officials against Shi’a Muslim villagers as further evidence of attempts to divide communities. The threat to Al-Sistani’s life, even if veiled, is taken with utmost seriousness, the Foundation stressed, as it could fuel further violence during an already volatile period.
Al-Khoei Foundation, known for its humanitarian, civil society, and educational initiatives, strongly condemned the hateful rhetoric on the programme, warning that it could incite more violence at a time when efforts should be focused on peace. The statement highlighted the devastating toll of the ongoing conflict, which has claimed thousands of lives and displaced countless others, and criticized the inflammatory content as an impediment to peace talks and ceasefire efforts.
