AFGE, Nation’s Largest Federal Employee Union, Endorses Mikie Sherrill for Governor

By Adam Rizvi, The India Observer ,(TIO): Bloomfield, NJ — The American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), the largest union representing federal workers in the United States, has formally endorsed Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill in her bid to become the next Governor of New Jersey. 
The endorsement, announced last week, underscores Sherrill’s 100 percent lifetime pro-union voting record in Congress and her consistent support for working families, labor rights, and programs such as Social Security and Medicare.
“I am honored to have the support of AFGE. Our dedicated and tireless public servants keep this state running, and I am committed to ensuring they have the resources they need to best help our residents,” said Sherrill. “At a time when unions are under attack from Donald Trump and Jack Ciattarelli, I will be the governor who stands up for New Jerseyans and fights to build a Garden State that works for all our families.”

AFGE District 2 National Vice President David Gonzalez praised Sherrill’s record, noting that she has consistently championed workers’ rights and collective bargaining: “Rep. Sherrill has earned a 100% lifetime voting record with AFGE and AFL-CIO on issues critical to union members and working families. As New Jersey’s next governor, she will continue to defend working people’s right to form and join a union, while protecting essential programs that millions rely on.”
With New Jersey’s gubernatorial race heating up, Sherrill’s campaign has emphasized her commitment to building an inclusive economy, expanding opportunity, and protecting the state’s workforce at a time of heightened political polarization.
