Baaghi 2 Movie Review: Tiger’s action high point in an otherwise silly movie
Baaghi 2: ** stars
Director: Ahmed Khan
Cast: Tiger Shroff, Disha Patani, Deepak Dobriyal, Manoj Bajpai, Randeep Hooda
Baaghi 2 has been making headlines ever since the makers have announced that Disha Patani would star opposite Tiger Shroff, given speculations about them being in a relationship. However, there is one more thing that has grabbed the attention of the audience– Ahmed Khan. The noted choreographer is returning to the director’s chair almost after 10 years with Baaghi 2. He last helmed Sunny Deol and Shahid Kapoor-starrer Fool & Final in 2007. Tiger’s high octane action sequences in the film are something to draw the applause from the audience. The sequel to the 2016 hit Baaghi, the film also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Prateik Babbar, Randeep Hooda and Deepak Dobriyal.
Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani’s chemistry holds the film as far as the interval but the plot runs amok after that. Deepak Dobriyal’s talent is wasted and the best thing about the film remains the camaraderie between the two seasoned actors Randeep Hooda and Manoj Bajpai.
Too many different elements spoil the plot. The film combines the most generic elements of a mainstream action film, wherein the villain has killed the hero’s father, mother, sister, brother, wife or a lover. And the hero goes on a rampage. As Baaghi 2 slides into silliness, the flashbacks are a drag. One wishes that more attention had been spent on dialogue writing and its delivery.
Prateik Babbar adds a new energy on the screen with his entry. The highpoint is the rehash of Madhuri Dixit’s Ek Do Teen hit from Tezaab with Jacqueline Fernandez and Prateik Babbar. There have been mixed reactions to the same though, as many fans feel no one can shake it quite like Mrs. Nene!
