Shabana Azmi Responds to Kangana Ranaut rant about her accepting Karachi event invite
Motor-mouth actress Kangana Ranaut has trained her guns at Shabana Azmi asking why she accepted an invitation to attend a literary event in Pakistan in Kaifi Azmi’s memory
Copy Edited By Adam Rizvi: TIO. Mumbai, Feb 16: Responding to Kangana Ranaut’s vitriolic barbs criticising the senior actress’ acceptance to an invite to a Karachi event in memory of her father, Kaifi Azmi, Shabana has stated “You really think at a time like this a personal attack on me can be of any significance when the entire country stands as one in our grief and in condemning this dastardly Pulwama attack? May God bless her.”

Azmi has been termed ‘anti-national’ by Kangana, who has questioned her initial decision to participate in an event in Pakistan. The much-respected senior actress, known for her secular views and strong commitments to social justice like her father, along with her husband Javed Akhtar was supposed to attend a two-day literary event on her father Kaifi Azmi in Karachi but decided not to go as a sign of protest after the Pulwama attack.
I am filled with pain and grief and all else ..by the dastardly #Pulwama attack . For the 1st time in all these years I feel weakened in my belief that people to people contact can force the Establishment to do the right thing. We will need to call halt to cultural exchange

#Pulwama attack There is no way we can carry on with cultural exchanges between India and Pakistan even as our martyrs are laying down their lives for us. I stand in solidarity with the grieving families.
