Rahul Gandhi promises ‘new and shining’ Congress
Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Monday sought assistance of Indians living in Bahrain to “fight forces of hatred” in India, reported ANI.
Addressing Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin in Bahrain, Rahul said, “There is a serious problem at home, and you are part of the solution.”
“I seek your help to fight forces of anger in India,” urged Rahul.
“Your talent, skills, tolerance, patriotism is what India needs today. You have shown us how you have built the countries you have journeyed to. Now help us rebuild India,” added Rahul.
While saying he accepted his mistakes, the Gandhi scion said Congress was active on the ground and BJP had “barely scraped through in its stronghold of Gujarat” in recent polls. “We may be fighting BJP but our focus is to provide a vision for India. If we give a new Congress party to India, it is not a big task to defeat the BJP… We are working on it. You will see dramatic change in Congress and you will see leaders you can have trust in,” he said. Rahul sought six months to reinvent Congress, saying the party had the faces and “we will give you a new shining Congress”.
In his speech, the Gandhi scion went on to claim that there was “tremendous anger and unrest on the streets of India”.
“The Indian youth today is unsure of his future. He is angry with what government of India is doing,” said Rahul.
“Job creation is at an eight year low”, Rahul claimed, “Instead of focusing on removal of poverty, creating jobs, improving healthcare and building world class education system, we see creation of hatred between communities”.
“There is discussion about what one should eat, what one you should protest about” added Rahul.
The Amethi MP said that instead of uniting people of all religions and communities together, the govt is busy converting the fear being generated in jobless youth into hatred between communities.
“Journalists are shot dead, Dalits are beaten, minorities are lynched, judges presiding over important cases die under mysterious circumstances”, said Rahul.
