By Adam Rizvi, The India Observer, TIO: November 4, 2025 – New Jersey / Nationwide — On Election Day, South Asian civic engagement organization SAFA has been actively mobilizing voters in critical states including New Jersey, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and California. Over the past seven weeks, SAFA leaders and volunteers have conducted phonebanks, canvasses, and community outreach to encourage voter participation in local, statewide, and ballot measure elections.

SAFA’s communications highlighted the efforts of NJ State Director Parul Khemka, VA State Director Shyamali Hauth, PA Advisor Nina Ahmad, and CA Advisor & Legal Director Deepa Sharma, alongside youth leaders who helped organize events on the ground. These initiatives aimed to reach thousands of voters and promote civic engagement across South Asian communities.

In addition to voter outreach, SAFA noted that South Asian candidates are on the ballot in various local and city races, including Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval seeking re-election and Zohran Mamdani running in New York City.

SAFA encouraged community members to check polling locations, use voter protection hotlines, and participate in virtual election watch parties to follow results. The organization emphasized that civic participation and voter engagement remain essential for sustaining democratic values and representation.
