Workers Across New Jersey Unite Behind Mikie Sherrill for Governor

Momentum continues to surge for Mikie Sherrill as six influential labor unions from across New Jersey have announced their endorsement of her candidacy for Governor. The endorsements represent workers from critical sectors — transportation, education, manufacturing, and entertainment — underscoring Sherrill’s widespread support among the state’s working class.
In the past week, the following unions have joined the movement for Mikie Sherrill:
- Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) New Jersey State Joint Council
- United Service Workers Union (USWU)
- Rutgers AAUP-AFT (American Association of University Professors–American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO)
- United Auto Workers (UAW) Region 9
- International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 52
- International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 1

“With a flawless record on labor issues, Mikie Sherrill has proven to be a steadfast ally of workers and unions across New Jersey,” said Orlando Riley, Chairman of the Amalgamated Transit Union NJ State Joint Council. “She understands that reliable, affordable public transit is the backbone of our state — and that supporting the workforce behind it is essential.”
“From her military service to her work in Congress, Mikie has always stood for working families,” added Connor Shaw, Political Director of the USWU. “Her plan to make New Jersey more affordable and strengthen the middle class is exactly what our members need.”

“The Rutgers AAUP-AFT Executive Council stands firmly behind Mikie Sherrill,” the union declared. “New Jersey needs a governor who will defend our rights and oppose federal overreach — not one who follows Washington blindly.”
“Your positions reflect a clear understanding of the issues that matter most to working families,” said Daniel Vicente, Director of UAW Region 9.
“Mikie Sherrill has supported IATSE entertainment workers from day one,” noted William Klatt, President of IATSE Local 52. “Her advocacy for the PRO Act and the Performing Artist Tax Parity Act shows her deep commitment to the creative and technical professionals who keep our entertainment industry alive.”
