“Jeanne Hengemuhle is a dedicated public servant with decades of experience in the State Police,” Governor Sherrill said. “She understands not only the responsibilities of the job, but also the profound duty to serve and protect our communities each and every day.”

The Governor also thanked Sierotowicz for his leadership during a challenging winter season that included two major storms, highlighting his role in emergency response and coordination as acting head of the Office of Emergency Management.

Acting Attorney General Jennifer Davenport emphasized Hengemuhle’s understanding of modern policing and community trust. “She believes that each of us is deserving of dignity, respect, and justice,” Davenport said, expressing confidence in Hengemuhle’s ability to lead with integrity and innovation.

Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell described Hengemuhle’s 26 years of service as making her “uniquely qualified” to guide the agency forward, noting the State Police’s essential role in safeguarding communities across New Jersey.

In her remarks, Hengemuhle called it “an honor to once again answer the call to protect and serve the State of New Jersey.” She pledged to lead with the State Police’s core values of Honor, Duty, and Fidelity, while strengthening community partnerships and ensuring public safety statewide.

Throughout her career, Hengemuhle has held key leadership roles, including serving as Branch Commander of the Administration Branch, where she oversaw recruiting, personnel development, and training strategy. She has also testified before the U.S. House Subcommittee on school security, advocating for collaboration and trust between law enforcement and communities.

A graduate of The College of New Jersey, Hengemuhle earned both a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and police science and a master’s degree in education. She is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 254th class. A Bergen County native, she currently resides in Middlesex County.
