TRENTON, NJ | December 2, 2025 — Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill has announced the formation of a bipartisan Local Government Advisory Group to guide her gubernatorial transition and ensure that municipalities and counties across New Jersey have a strong voice as the incoming administration prepares to take office.
The advisory group brings together elected officials from across the state who will provide practical, on-the-ground insight to the Transition Action Teams, helping shape policies that reflect the real needs of local communities.
“The best ideas come from working closely with local communities on the ground,” Governor-elect Sherrill said. “In Congress, I worked hand-in-hand with local officials to deliver resources for flood mitigation, public safety, and affordable housing. I intend to bring that same collaborative, mission-focused approach to my administration — starting with this transition.”

“We will work closely with local leaders to deliver real results — whether it’s addressing housing costs or improving education outcomes,” Caldwell said. “I’m grateful to the many public servants who have stepped forward to support this transition and continue serving the people of New Jersey.”
Transition Executive Director Kellie Doucette said Governor-elect Sherrill’s long-standing partnership with local officials will help the incoming administration move quickly and effectively.

Phil Alagia, Chief of Staff to Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr., will serve as a Senior Advisor to the Sherrill-Caldwell transition, coordinating engagement between the advisory group, transition leadership, and key stakeholders. The group will also seek input from statewide municipal and county organizations, including the New Jersey Conference of Mayors, League of Municipalities, Association of Counties, and Urban Mayors Association.
