He is 36 year incumbent, Frank Pallone.
AKHTAR began his career as a Writer in the Obama White House before pivoting to finance and then national security work. He has worked at the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of Defense and was most recently an FBI Special Agent.
AKHTAR’s notable policy positions include student debt relief, healthcare for all, an end to American involvement in foreign wars, and support for law enforcement. He is socially conservative.
He holds a BA from Rutgers and an MBA from Dartmouth College. He is a practicing Muslim and the son of Pakistani immigrants.
