By The India Observer News Desk, Edited by Adam Rizvi, The India Observer, TIO: Bloomfield, NJ – October 27, 2025: The Mikie Sherrill for Governor campaign issued a strong response following reports that Republican candidate Jack Ciattarelli has threatened legal action over recent scrutiny of his past business dealings.
In a statement released by Sean Higgins, Communications Director for the Sherrill campaign, the team accused Ciattarelli of attempting to silence discussion around his company’s involvement with an opioid manufacturer.

“Perennial candidate Jack Ciattarelli has run three gubernatorial campaigns on his history as a ‘small business owner,’” Higgins said. “But the moment Mikie Sherrill pressed him on the truth about his business — which peddled deadly misinformation about opioids and was paid by an opioid company to develop an app to coach patients to get hydrocodone — he threatened to file a lawsuit to shut the conversation down.” Higgins added,
“Jack has yet to deny his role in fueling the opioid epidemic. If he actually follows through on his desperate and frivolous lawsuit, we look forward to obtaining legal discovery into Jack putting millions in profits over those dying in the opioid crisis.”
The campaign also encouraged New Jerseyans to visit OpioidJack.com to review public information and records related to Ciattarelli’s past business operations.

Context: A Heated Gubernatorial Contest
The 2025 New Jersey gubernatorial race continues to intensify as both campaigns trade sharp words over issues of ethics, transparency, and public health responsibility. Sherrill, a former Navy helicopter pilot and current congresswoman, has positioned her campaign around integrity, leadership, and the protection of working families, while Ciattarelli’s record as a businessman remains under scrutiny.
Editorial Comment (TIO Viewpoint)“Campaigns often test leadership under fire,” said Adam Rizvi, Editor-in-Chief (TIO) “How candidates respond to accountability and transparency questions tells voters what kind of governance they can expect.”
