IBA raises the hype with pre- Parade Event
WASHINGTON DC, July 18: The Indian Business Association has got itself kitted out for the annual India Day parade. The Association recently organized a “Kickoff Event” for the annual Parade, which will be organized on August 12th in Edison. Indian Business Association members gathered at Capitol Hill to promote national awareness of the annual celebration and highlight specific policy issues affecting Indian-Americans.
Held in the conference room of House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, the event was hosted by Illinois Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and gave IBA supporters the chance for a one on one with 18 Members of Congress, including names like House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and House Minority Whip Hoyer.
Seven members from the New Jersey Congressional Delegation attended the function, including Rep. McArthur, Rep. Norcross, Rep. Watson Coleman, Rep. Lance, Rep. Sires, Rep. Gottheimer, and Rep. Pascrell.
The yearly India Day Parade is one of IBA’s flagship event and draws about 40,000 people from across the country. The IBA trip to Washington marks a new effort the organization has made to expand the non-profit into new charitable causes while expanding the audience to a more national level.
According to sources the IBA President Dhiren Amin, “The IBA is excited to enter a new period of expansion, both in the scope of our capabilities and the outreach to a larger audience. The success of our event today is a great indicator of the potential of our progress,” he added.
Tuesday’s IBA delegation saw the participation of multiple sectors of the business community. IBA is now looking forward to making it an annual event.
When asked for a comment Councilman Ajay Patil remarked, “I am happy to see the bipartisan showing of congressmen and congresswoman at the IBA Parade Kick-off event showcasing their support to the Indian American community. Most of the congress delegates spoke about role and contribution of Indian American community to the economy and the fabric of America.”
