22-year-old Indian-American techie in race for California Governor
A 22-year-old Indian-American IT professional, who was graduated from UCLA, is drawing everybody’s attention these days as the young man in the race for California Governor.
Shubham Goel is the son of Indian immigrants from Uttar Pradesh. Goel graduated from UCLA with a degree in economics and a minor in film and TV. He is currently working as a virtual reality CRM manager for a leading virtual reality company in San Francisco.
Goel is campaigning on the streets with his megaphone and talking to crowds on why he’s the right candidate for the post of Governor after Jerry Brown, who served two four year terms as Democrat governor. He is using latest virtual reality technology to interact with people during his campaign. He believes that virtual reality technology will change the world and solve educational issues in California.
Shubham’s patients are IT professional and now permanent residents of America. While his father Bipul Goel originally hails from Lucknow, his mother Karuna hails from Meerut.
Speaking about the reasons behind his electoral plunge, Shubham said, “I was born and raised in California. New-age tech can fix issues. I believe I am the first politician to campaign in virtual reality. There are many innovators out there, but they are not as involved in politics as they should be.”

He also raised strong his voice against corruption. “I want to raise representation and awareness for the Indian community in decision-making. I am running for governor to encourage the young to hope and have a conviction to make a change rather than money and fame,” he said.
He has delivered speeches at several schools and in different cities, including Santa Monica, San Francisco, Merced, Bravas, Walnut Creek and Cambria.
