Gov. Mikie Sherrill and First Gentleman Jason Hedberg to Move Family to Historic Drumthwacket

By Adam Rizvi | Editor, The India Observer (TIO): TRENTON, NJ — Mikie Sherrill, Governor of the State of New Jersey, announced that she and her family will relocate this summer to Drumthwacket, the historic official residence of New Jersey governors. The announcement was made jointly with her husband, Jason Hedberg.
In a statement released Friday, Governor Sherrill said the move reflects the administration’s continued commitment to working closely from the state capital and strengthening its presence in Trenton as it carries out its agenda.
“We are excited to let our fellow New Jerseyans know that we are moving our family to Drumthwacket this summer,” the Governor and First Gentleman said in a joint statement.
According to the Governor, living at the official residence will allow the family to be closer to Trenton and the New Jersey State House, enabling the administration to stay fully engaged with the work of governing and delivering on commitments made to residents across the state.
“From Day One this administration has committed to getting to work in Trenton to deliver on our commitments,” the statement continued. “We’re thrilled to further strengthen that commitment by living full time in the Governor’s official residence and being much closer to the Capital City and the State House.”
Located in Princeton, Drumthwacket has served as the official residence for New Jersey governors since the early 1980s and is widely regarded as one of the state’s most historically significant public properties. The residence regularly hosts community events, educational tours, and public gatherings.
Governor Sherrill also emphasized that the historic property belongs to the people of New Jersey and will continue to serve as a welcoming space for residents and visitors.
“Drumthwacket is the people’s house, and we look forward to continuing to bring it to life for New Jersey residents and highlighting all the incredible history it offers,” the statement said.
The Governor and her family expressed appreciation for the staff members who maintain the residence and support its public programs.
“Our family looks forward to this exciting next chapter, and we thank the dedicated New Jersey state staff and the team at the Drumthwacket Foundation for all their work to truly make the residence a home.”
