By Syed Ali Mujtaba, Edited By Adam Rizvi, The India Observer, TIO:Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi, addressing the media on the Vote Theft issue on September 19, 2025, called the Election Commissioner Gyanesh K umar an “election watchman” who “stayed awake, watched the theft, and protected the thieves”. He accused the Chief Election Commissioner of protecting those who “destroyed democracy” in India.
Rahul Gandhi cited data from a Karnataka Assembly constituency to claim that the votes of Congress supporters were being systematically deleted. In the run-up to the 2023 assembly poll, the Congress leader has found that, from the Aland assembly constituency in the Kalburgi district, through fraudulent means, some six thousand names were deleted from the voters’ lists in the Congress strongholds.

The Congress workers immediately became active and made the necessary hue and cry. Incidentally, one of the names deleted was that of a close kin of the concerned Electoral Registration Officer.
This led to an investigation; the ECI, barring a few, blocked all the deletions. The concerned Electoral Registration Officer filed an FIR. Consequently, Karnataka CID took up the case and found out that fake names were used to file the fraudulent objections.
The CID wrote to the ECI to provide (i) the IP addresses of the devices from which the objections were filed for the deletion of the voters name (ii) the destination ports and (iii) the details of OTP trails including the concerned mobile numbers — to identify the criminals on the ground and, if possible, unearth the syndicate guiding the operations.

The Election Commission dubbed the allegations “incorrect and baseless” and said. “No deletion of any vote can be done online by any member of the public, as misconceived by Gandhi.”
The CEC skirted the matter, saying EC is an independent body and no one has the right to challenge its authority in the preparation of the voters’ list. Instead, the CEC asked Rahul Gandhi to file an affidavit for his claim or apologize to the nation.
Rahul Gandhi on September 18, 2025, said that the poll panel must stop protecting “vote chors” and provide within week the information sought by the Karnataka CID in an investigation into voter deletions.
“Our demand is Gyanesh Kumar, do your job… You have taken an oath, you are India’s chief election commissioner, you must give evidence to the Karnataka CID,” Mr. Gandhi had said, directly attacking the CEC.

Mr. Gandhi also gave the example of Maharashtra’s Rajura constituency, where he claimed 6,850 voters were added in a “fraudulent” manner using automated software.
“The same system is doing this. It is doing it in Karnataka, Maharashtra, it has done it in Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and we have proof of it,” the Congress leader alleged.
This is the third press conference by Rahul Gandhi in two months. He made the revelation of the ‘vote chori’ in his first press conference on August 7th, 2025. His explosive allegation revealed that a “Vote Chori” scam is brewing under the BJP rule in India.
Rahul Gandhi alleged that this dirty job is done by a central syndicate that’s fuelling the ‘vote chori’ project all over India.

“It appears that this whole operation is spread across the country and is orchestrated by a syndicate (BJP IT cell), most likely employing a dedicated team of professionals deployed for doing this dirty job,” the Congress leader said.
Rahul Gandhi pointed out that there are two methods of ‘vote theft’ going on in the country. First is the fraudulent bloc addition of fictitious names in the voters’ list. The second is the deletion of the voter’s name from the voters’ list. Both methods have ensured the victory of a BJP candidate, despite the bogus voters’ list, in several constituencies, Rahul Gandhi said.
In a post in Hindi on X on September 19, Mr. Gandhi said, “Wake up at 4 a.m. Eliminate two voters in 36 seconds, then go back to sleep – this is how vote theft happens!”
Notwithstanding the facts, it’s becoming abundantly clear that the ‘vote theft’ process is going on under PM Modi’s rule to sustain the BJP’s domination over the country.

The BJP government at the center that controls several independent organizations is also hand in glove with the Election Commission of India, instructing how to prepare a favorable list of electorates that can ensure the ruling party candidate’s victory.
One can recall, it’s the same BJP IT Cell that created a clichéd character ‘Papu’, attributing to Rahul Gandhi and declaring him a nincompoop.
This was done with the help of Godi-media, which made the common man believe that Rahul Gandhi is a Dumbo.
Another thing to recall is that when everyone is convinced that the BJP may not be on the winning side, the exit poll at the end of the electioneering always gave its opinion that the BJP’s win is ensured, even though that’s contrary to the popular opinion.
This proves beyond doubt that ‘vote theft’ is being done by a central syndicate in collusion with the Election Commission of India.

Certainly, the concerns raised by Rahul Gandhi need to be investigated independently. This is a big fraud that’s being foisted on the people of the country, who are believed to be living in the largest democracy in the world. The addition and deletion of the voter’s name from the electoral list is no ordinary crime. Such criminals should be apprehended and brought to justice. That may also very well open up the pathway to the politicians who are behind such organized crime.
