Salman Khan case: Bhai on bail from jail till May 7; Bishnois to file appeal in HC


NEW DELHI: Bollywood superstar is on his way to home and on a chartered flight with hi sisters Alvira and Arpita  from Jodhpur Central Jail after a brief stay of two days. He flew out of Jodhpur in a chartered plane accompanied by his sisters. It took him and his convoy of five cars just seven minutes to reach the airport. The Jodhpur Sessions Court early on Saturday granted Salman Khan bail in the 1998 Black Buck poaching case on a surety of Rs. 50,000 and set May 7 as the next date of hearing.

The Bishnoi community, which is committed to protecting the endangered deer species that the actor killed during the shooting of Hum Saath Saath Hain, has decided to appeal against the bail in Rajasthan High Court.

Meanwhile the transfer of Judge Ravindra Kumar Joshi, who presided over the bail hearing, and trial court judge Dev Kumar Khatri, who had convicted Salman Khan and sentenced him to five years in jail, have caused a flutter of rumors. They are among the several judges transferred in Rajasthan almost overnight. However official sources have maintained that the transfers are reportedly part of routine reshuffle carried out in the beginning of April every year in Rajasthan. Salman Khan had spent the last two days in Jodhpur Central Jail.

Salman Khan’s longtime bodyguard Shera has entered the Jodhpur Central Jail in a white SUV this morning following the actor being granted bail by the Jodhpur Sessions Court. The Bollywood superstar is expected to walk out of the jail by 5.45 pm (IST) following the completion of all formalities.

Salman Khan was released on bail on a personal bond of Rs. 50,000. Firecrackers were burst outside the Jodhpur Sessions Court, as fans and supporters of the actor gathered in celebration. Even outside his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, fans gathered with poster and banners, jubilant at the star’s release. The actor had spent 48 hours in Jodhpur Central Jail, where he shared a cell with rape accused and self-styled Godman, Asaram.
